I was always so excited to see my friends and get new school supplies :) #nerd
Excited to see friends
Hello, very NERVOUS
I liked going back to school because I would sometimes get bored during the summer because I wanted to see my friends.
Sad. Summer is fun.
I loved seeing my friends again, but did not look forward to homework!
Excited when I was younger, then dreaded it more as I got older.
I liked going back to school to see friends, and to have a rountine. (Plus new clothes & supplies)
Before joining ANR, I worked for the company that created the essentials for parenting videos for CDC - the videos are meant to be super-parent friendly and engaging, and they are working on a Spanish version of the videos (in case folks were curious about Spanish versions).
One challenge is when there are conflicting rules and/or schedules according to the adult family member who is taking care of the child. Thoughts on how to handle those conflicts.
Re: question, we invite the parents to share the resources with the conflicting adults. Either invite them to the classes or share the materials, if possible.
Betty Rojas suggested using a picture chart so everyone knows the schedule
One issue I have had when teaching HHF is that the videos are not in Spanish yet so sometimes things get lost in translation. -Some of my parents juggle conflicting schedules as the kids go with mother one week and then go with dad the next week. We get one parent to the class but the other parent does not attend.
Oh yes I do!
It's a hard and sticky situation especially if the parents are divorced. Being clear and consistent with the child on your end and acknowledging that there is a difference in households.
