*Just a note* We are calling the program "UC Virtual Cooking Academy," as Cooking Academy was originally designed by our Nutrition Educators in Yolo County and is available for use in CFHL, UC, EFNEP, and UC 4-H. (YAY!!:))

Thanks Anne! We'll correct the slides before we post them.

Teachers in our cluster are overwhelmed and are asking for us to deliver lessons as they really need help.
Tuline Baykal
20:56
Extenders find it confusing, very confusing. Which deters them from doing it on their own.
Shannon Klisch
20:59
We regularly forget the process for requesting access from SO. just a product of having a lot of processes, links, procedures..
Nancy Zumkeller
21:14
Fresno teachers are also asking our educators to deliver lessons for them.
Mary Vollinger
24:16
Guest teaching seems to be one of the best ways we can support our communities.
Nancy Zumkeller

Shannon, I have added the link to a bi weekly calendar invite to staff for them to fill in. I then send the link to Maryann.

Hi Mary. Unfortunately, I don't think it is. I'll do a bit more digging to see if I can find it and will share in the chat if I do

Has any county conducted virtual cooking academy?

The schools we serve do not have 4H programming. Is 4H enrollment for students required for CFHL staff to deliver programming?

4-H enrollment is not necessary. But, I suggest partnering in your office and then they can be group enrolled, which does not cost anything or require participants to complete anything. Your local 4-H may be able to supply some incentives as well.
Nancy Zumkeller
37:33
Thank you Marcel!

37:39
In terms of the Food Demos, is there a need to purchase food for these lessons? At this time EFNEP has a hold on purchasing food for demonstrations.
Shirley Salado
39:12
This is only in English, correct?
Shirley Salado
40:51
Nice, thanks!
Lori Coker
41:05
Are we allowed to purchase food for a live demo?
Marcel Horowitz
42:40
Your county 4-H may be willing to provide the food you need for the demo? Schools could purchase the food for the students?
Alicia Fraticelli

44:01
Is this a fidelity curriculum or can we administer as stand alone lessons?
Mary Vollinger
44:21
Santa Clara County has done virtually cook club, but not 4-H. We find equity to be a concern. Not all students have access to ingredients. We have been coordinating with food bank to address.
Melissa Mabuchi
45:18
@Anne, thanks about the live demo food. Just asking for all so we know. This is a gray area with the remote work now.

Thanks everyone! Happy to be here today.
Anne Iaccopucci
56:57
@Natalie - not always. It would depend on if they qualify for EFNEP.
Shirley Salado
57:07
Good question Nataie, I was going to ask if EFNEP uses the Teen Teach model, would this help increase older youth numbers? Maybe this is a Shyra question.
Jaci Westbrook

to get kids off the bed, always include quick PA or active ice breaker. you can have older kids prepare one of these activities so their peers get more involved and have this as an expectation.
Daisy Valdez
01:06:27
Have other educators used an incentive or acknowledgement system? What can that look like virtually? Would giving a shout-out on the screen at the beginning/end of class help?
Kelly Hong
01:07:03
Teachers give participation points.
Elizabeth Lopez
01:07:09
I learned this fun waterfall technique from my teacher so that every student shares their answer in the chat. I do a countdown “3,2,1 waterfall”. At the end of the countdown students hit enter and all their responses come in like a waterfall.
