EatFit Follow-Up Webinar - Shared screen with speaker view
CATCH also has middle school curricula focused on nutrition, books for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades.
I also ask them how they feel: when they are thirsty, tired, hungry, full, etc. Getting them to connect their mind body too. If you drink water during the day, you may not get so many headaches, etc.
i've had that issue too
Do they need reminders to track?
I think the teacher needs to help motivate too. Put it on the schedule to remind them.
Signing off on each others' goals doesn't seem to affect their follow-through
The teacher participating helps a lot. The teachers who have made them fill out the eating log all on the same day had the best results
i have done that yes
If no nutrition knowledge- I give the classroom teacher a MyPlate poster for the classroom and background information so that they can have the discussion and know where to look to find healthy resources/tips. It helps to jump start the implementation. Because those questions come up from the teacher and students, "what is healthy?"
i haven't had that problem
That is how some of our extenders have adapted that lesson activity.
They definitely care :)
I like that (food black-out) Breakfast Black-out?
Mine have always been OK with the paper and pencil
i do it along with them on the document camera
I always use paper quizzes, easier than computer. I give them my example, (I fill it out for me) to show them how to do it.
Can you have an inexpensive app vs. online?
good to know!
I've only used paper Hey! What are you eating Quiz
How is the Extreme Fitness challenge performed?
Yes, it confuses them. i do it along with them and explain it.
Though it would be great if they could do it on their own
I have used EatFit with continuation high schools (not intended audience but they need goal setting) and have suggested using Apps to track PA and eating. Google Fit is a good one. My Fitness Pal is another app.
Has anyone done this in class?
We take stretching breaks…
PA never hurts! Add it.
No extreme challenge with PE classes because they already get a lot of PA, teachers want us to focus on eating goals
Thank you! Terrific webinar!
