One challenge we have in our area is that participants don't want to do the work of applying for CalFresh benefits for $15-$20/month.
Being present at Produce Days with Taste Testing and having coversations while families are in line waiting.
Strategies-shopping tip, how to prepare meals
Strategy- Promote our local emergency food bank and their satelite sites of the mobile farmers markets
Challenge- transportation/access issues among elderly to get to fresh nutritious foods
Printing out calendars with food bank distribution dates and times to hand out to participants so that they may receive more food
Produce Days are in connection with the Food Bank
Using food demos to expose participants to easy/ cost-effective strategies to having healthy foods on hand. The hard part is the lack of follow-up or having some kind of support for encouraging participants to maintain the changes they've made
We invite families to our school garden clubs to harvest and take fresh produce anytime.
One challenge has been learning that students have food at thier mother's house but not at their father's house.
We use our CNAP to partner together and share ideas
Cooking classes centered around the produce coming out of the community garden
Letting participants know what resources are available in their community such as food banks near their homes
Printing out flyers and calendars about food banks, nutrition classes

strategies- creating a safe zone that allows open conversation for a persons insecurity and feeling of being helped out.
Strategy: Provide simple and easy recipes for food being distributed at the food pantry
I take pictures of my real-life shopping trips to the Grocery Outlet and highlight prices of items such as brown rice, black beans, broccoli, etc and dispel the myth that it is too expensivve to eat healthy.

Similar to GO, I took a pic of everything I got from Imperfect Foods and shared how much I spent. A lot of the "imperfections" are just a surplus. And you can customize your box.
